Joseph Keith Aman Linthicum, Maryland — A fatal workplace shooting at a security facility near Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport has claimed the life of 37-year-old Joseph Keith Aman, officials confirmed.
Anne Arundel County police say officers were called to the Northrop Grumman facility in the 7300 block of Aviation Boulevard in Linthicum after reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers found that Aman, who lived in Baltimore, had been shot and killed inside the building during a dispute with a colleague.
Investigators report that Aman and another contracted security guard, 26-year-old Dylan Blake Chandler of Pasadena, became involved in a confrontation that escalated into gunfire. A third security guard intervened, disarmed the suspect and took him into custody, police said. Aman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police emphasized that the incident was isolated and did not involve Northrop Grumman employees, noting that both Aman and Chandler were contractors working at the site. A weapon was recovered, and Chandler has been charged with first- and second-degree murder and related offenses, authorities said.
Law enforcement continues to investigate the circumstances leading up to the shooting, and detectives are seeking any additional information from potential witnesses. The Maryland Transportation Authority Police initially secured the scene before turning the investigation over to the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s homicide unit.
The local community and colleagues are grappling with the shocking loss as officials work to piece together a complete account of what led to the deadly encounter.
